South America, Peru is one of the places you could explore in July from the awe-inspiring lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu, to the Colca Canyon and the Amazon rainforest. Or for another kind of jaw-dropping mountain scenery. If tropical desert islands are what you crave at this time of year, many parts of Southeast Asia are perfect in July, or, if you want natural spectacles, head to Africa.
The great migration is full flow, with wildebeest, zebras and Thomson’s gazelle making their annual arrival in the luscious grasslands of the Massai Mara in Kenya, where the big five have been waiting for months. In July, the Mediterranean is perhaps at its best, before parts become a little too hot for some in August. Couples can find romance in Italy’s cities, do a multicentre travelling from Rome to Venice via Florence by train and you can’t forget the endless beaches across the Mediterranean.The Himalaya in India is another great choice for further afield.
